Devenir agricultrice, le parcours du combattant
J’ai photographié Aurore une première fois en 2012 dans le Limousin pour un projet collectif sur le thème de l’agriculture. Elle avait alors 23 ans. Puis je suis retournée la voir en 2015 pour une commande de l’Etudiant magazine.
Fille et petite-fille d’agriculteurs, Aurore rêve de créer sa propre exploitation de vaches limousines dans sa région natale. Pourtant, en Limousin comme ailleurs, reprendre une exploitation est le parcours du combattant, surtout pour une jeune femme qui n’a pas de fonds propres.
Aurore a eu la chance d’être embauchée par un groupement de quatre employeurs qui lui font confiance, car être une femme n’est pas facile dans ce métier ! Chaque jour, elle travaille dans une ferme différente, ce qui lui demande une grande capacité d’adaptation entre élevage de brebis et celui de vaches laitières.
Les journées sont longues pour cette mère de deux enfants. Le manque d’argent et la difficulté de combiner vie familiale et professionnelle pèsent sur son moral mais Aurore ne désespère pas de posséder un jour sa propre exploitation agricole.
I photographed Aurore for the first time in 2012 in the Limousin for a collective project on the theme of agriculture. She was then 23 years old. Then I went back to see her in 2015 for a commission from the Etudiant magazine.
As the daughter and granddaughter of farmers, Aurore dreams of creating her own farm with Limousin cows in her native region. However, in Limousin as elsewhere, taking over a farm is an obstacle course, especially for a young woman who has no funds of her own.
Aurore was lucky enough to be hired by a group of four employers who trust her, because being a woman is not easy in this profession! Every day, she works on a different farm, which requires her to be very adaptable between raising sheep and dairy cows.
The days are long for this mother of two children. The lack of money and the difficulty of combining family and professional life weigh on her morale, but Aurore does not despair of one day owning her own farm.
